As CSE, we see ourselves as a platform for exchange and networking in systems engineering. Our mission is to bring together relevant stakeholders and create an open, interdisciplinary environment. We foster dialogue between university departments across different disciplines, between research and industry, and between users and developers. In doing so, we create a space where both newcomers and pioneers in systems engineering can exchange ideas, regardless of industry or company size. Together, we develop practical approaches and sustainable strategies to share knowledge, drive innovation, and enable sustainable growth.

Institute for Machine Elements and Systems Engineering
The Institute for Machine Elements and Systems Engineering researches the fundamental structural and tribological behavior of machine elements and translates this into experimentally validated model descriptions.
The Systems Engineering department focuses on the structured and interdisciplinary development of complex products and systems. At the core is the consideration of technical, functional, and user-related requirements across the entire product lifecycle.
Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering (WZL) of RWTH Aachen University
Across the world and for many decades now the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering (WZL) of RWTH Aachen University has stood for successful and forward-thinking research in the area of production engineering. In eight different work areas, research activities not only relate to fundamental theories and findings but also to the application of findings in an industrial context. Furthermore, practical solutions are worked out for the purposes of rationalising production.

The Software Engineering group, led by Bernhard Rumpe, concentrates on innovative and practically useful concepts, methods, and tools for the development of complex business and software-intensive embedded systems on a sound and reliable scientific and engineering basis. In the current age of digitalisation it is important to develop at high speed and deliver good quality.
