Vision
The vision of the Center for Systems Engineering entails the development and validation of necessary key technologies for tomorrow’s product development process (PDP).
The interlinking of individual development steps and implemented tools allows a highly iterative, agile and in part automated product development.
A company’s competitiveness and innovation capabilities will in future depend more than ever before on its ability to master the increasing complexity of products embedded in growing digital networks. Current methods used in the product development of technical systems do not offer the necessary agility to adequately fulfill these requirements. That is why CSE aims to develop a new, highly efficient, digital and seamless product development process (PDP). Current PDP requires a paradigm change, which replaces the currently predominantly document-based product development with visionary, highly performant processes and methods found in model-based product development. The model-based development of technical systems also offers the foundations for comprehensive digitization and automation.
Our objective is the functional and seamless interlinking of all existing information about a product as part of PDP. A standardized system language and architecture form the basis for seamless and transparent data networking across all company divisions, facilitating full transparency regarding the process status at all times during the development process, while mapping possible target conflicts.
Digital shadows form the essential basis. They are partial models that are consistently interlinked, while offering a filtered view of the system model for each stakeholder.
The PDP of tomorrow will contribute significantly to lower development costs, shorter time-to-market and more sustainability.
